I moved from Bowes primary to Woodside, we had a visiting day to help us settle in. We got shown
our form class, around the school and how things worked; this helped me to get a view of where
everything was and the routines of the day.
My first week was filled with a mixture of emotions. I thought it would be hard to memorise all the
rooms and where everything was, but I learnt it in a few days. We were handed a timetable of where
each room my lessons were in and the time between each period. Each day went by I felt more and
more comfortable even though nobody at my primary came to Woodside,. I made a lot of new
friends!
My favourite lesson is art because it’s one of my mixed classes so I’m not only with my class but a
mixture of two others. I also enjoy lunch time where you can go to the library, eat in the canteen,
and go to a variety of clubs.
In my opinion, Woodside is a great school. I have made a lot of friends and the teachers are helpful and make a lot of effort for lessons. Each day we have a 20-minute form time in the morning. My favourite is Thursday since we have a quiz.
You can earn praise points and get prizes and trips once you hit a certain amount, but you can also
get conduct points which can lead to detentions. At the start of year 7 we got let out 10 minutes
early for lunch and got let out 5 minutes early at the end of the day, there is also a year seven area
which only years sevens can go in with a football table and benches.
I felt nervous on my first day but now I’m comfortable with the school.
